Tea Tree Oil

Essential oil of Tea Tree is a totally natural product derived from the leaves of the Melaleuca Altemifolia bush which grows in a small area of New South Wales, Austrailia. Its numerous remarkable qualities were recognised by the Aborigines, but it was Captain Cook's sailors who named it "Tea Tree" when they used the leaves as a substitute for tea, finding them "spicy and refreshing" and effective for the treatment of Scurvy. In the 1920's scientists confirmed that it was 13 times stronger as a germicide than carbolic acid but did no damage to healthy skin tissue. The oil has proven anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial qualities, as well as low toxicity. It is nature's strongest antiseptic and these properties make it ideal for use in a multitude of medicinal and cosmetic products. Can be used in the treatment of eczema, psoriasis, acne and other skin disorders.
